Dev Ops Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Dev Ops Engineer to join our Cybersecurity Operations team. This role is responsible for architecting, deploying, and maintaining Elastic Stack-based SIEM solutions, with a focus on infrastructure management.

The ideal candidate will also bring expertise in Kubernetes environments, supporting secure and scalable deployments of Elastic services and integrating Kubernetes logs into the SIEM for enhanced observability.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Core Infrastructure & Operating Systems:

·        Network Services: Experience with load balancing concepts and potential tools (pfSense, HAProxy).

·        Kubernetes Storage: Understanding Persistent Volumes (PVs), Persistent Volume Claims (PVCs), Storage Classes, and CSI (Container Storage Interface) drivers.

II. Virtualization (Proxmox VE):

·              Cluster Management: Understanding quorum, high availability (HA) configuration and management, fencing.

·              VM & Container Management: Creating, configuring, migrating (live migration), snapshotting, and managing KVM virtual machines and LXC containers.

III. Container Orchestration (Kubernetes):

·              Kubernetes Core Concepts: Strong understanding of Pods, Services, Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Namespaces, RBAC, Network Policies.

·              Cluster Architecture & Design: Understanding control plane components (kube-apiserver, etcd, kube-scheduler, kube-controller-manager) and worker node components (kubelet, kube-proxy, container runtime). Ability to design a resilient K8s cluster on Openstack and AWS.

·              Kubernetes Installation & Configuration: Experience deploying Kubernetes clusters on-cloud using tools like kubeadm or others.

·              Kubernetes Networking (CNI): Understanding and potentially configuring Container Network Interface plugins (e.g., Calico, Flannel, Cilium).

·              Kubernetes Storage (CSI): Understanding and configuring Container Storage Interface drivers to provide persistent storage to applications.

IV. Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) & Elastic Stack:

·        Core Concepts: Understanding indices, shards, replicas, cluster topology (master, data, ingest nodes), querying (DSL), and index management.

·        Cluster Management: Deploying, scaling, upgrading, and managing Elasticsearch clusters specifically via ECK.

·        Performance Tuning: Optimizing indexing and search performance.

·        Deployment & Management: Installing, configuring, and upgrading the ECK operator itself.

·        Custom Resources (CRDs): Understanding and utilizing ECK CRDs to deploy and manage Elasticsearch, Kibana, APM Server, Enterprise Search, Beats, etc.

·        CI/CD: Understanding and utilizing FLUX and Github/Gitlab to handle SIEM configuration.

V. Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

·        Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python) for automating operational tasks. Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus.

·        Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with tools like Terraform or Ansible for defining and managing infrastructure is highly desirable.

·       Monitoring & Alerting: Experience setting up and managing comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager, Zabbix, Nagios, potentially using the Elastic Stack itself).

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

·       3+ years of experience working with (Elastic Cloud) Kubernetes Stack in a dev ops role.

Preferred Skills:

·       Kubernetes Certification (desirable)

·       Knowledge of virtualization and k8s.

·       Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)

·       Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Helm, Terraform) in Kubernetes deployments

·       Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash.
